In India, Vibrant Village Foundation works in two regions working with unique populations.
In the Western State of Maharashtra we support women in the villages of Divshi and Gadchincla on the outskirts of India’s commercial capital of Mumbai, one of the largest commercial centers of the world. With Vibrant Village support our partner, Women’s Empowerment International Foundation (WEIF), provides employment services and agricultural trainings to 250 hardworking and inspiring rural women in these villages.
In southern India, we work in 9 villages in the Sivagangai District of Tamil Nadu. This region is semi-arid and characterized by dark red soils, where farmers grow rice, groundnuts and other cereals. We partner with The Foundation of Rural Development (FORD) Trust to train local farmers on sustainable agricultural techniques and to re-introduce millet as a climate-adaptive and healthy crop for families’ consumption and sale.
