In Côte d’Ivoire, Vibrant Village is working in two rural communities, in the central Gbêkê Region. Following the civil war crisis of 2002, this area was under occupation by the rebel forces for more than a decade, which contributed to the deterioration of health, economic, and social infrastructure.
The villages of Abouakro and Drimbo were once considered the breadbasket for animal and vegetable production. The area now experiences high rates of poverty due to inefficient farming practices, declining agricultural sales, low rainfall, labor migration and poor road conditions.
Vibrant Village is partnering with MAP International, a global health organization to rehabilitate schools and restore the vitality of animal husbandry and agriculture in the region.
