Smaller than the state of Tennessee, Guatemala is the most populous country in Central America, with a population of 15.8 million people. Guatemala is also diverse, with 23 spoken languages and the highest percentage of indigenous peoples in the region. Vibrant Villages works with two partners to serve these indigenous populations in seven rural Mayan villages.

Vibrant Village works in the northwestern region of Huehuetenango, in partnership with Adopt-a-Village in Guatemala, a U.S.- based organization that has been working in this area for over two decades. With support from Vibrant Village, Adopt-a-Village in Guatemala provides training in sustainable agriculture and nutrition and delivers an after-school literacy program in the villages of San Carlos, Las Victorias and San Juan las Palmas.

Close to Rabinal, the dry central corridor of Guatemala, Vibrant Village partners with The Garden's Edge, and their Guatemalan counterpart Qachuu Aloom, Mother Earth Association. Together they support sustainable agriculture, micro-enterprise, and education in four rural Mayan communities to revitalize cultural knowledge and improve economic and nutritional wellbeing.
